Trump Signals Third Day of Strikes on Iran: "Will Soon Seize Oil Infrastructure Hubs"
"Full Control Over Iran's Oil and Gas Markets"
Increasing Pressure on Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 11th (local time) that he would launch airstrikes against Iran for a third consecutive day.
On the morning of the same day, President Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, "Tonight, the United States will strike Iran very hard, which has lost its navy, air force, radar, air defense, and all other forms of defensive capability as well as most of its offensive capabilities."
President Trump had already carried out retaliatory airstrikes against Iran on the 9th and 10th after a U.S. Army Apache helicopter was shot down by an Iranian drone on the 8th. With this announcement, he has now signaled attacks for a third straight day.
This move is seen as both highlighting the severe consequences of attacks on U.S. military assets and pressuring Iran, which has been stalling in ceasefire negotiations with the United States, to accept all U.S. demands in any agreement.
President Trump specifically threatened to seize Iran's energy hubs. He stated, "At some point in the not-too-distant future, we will occupy Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure hubs, and take full control of their oil and gas markets." Kharg Island is Iran's largest crude oil export hub.
President Trump further cited the surprise military operation carried out in Venezuela in early January this year, which ousted President Nicolas Maduro and resulted in the United States taking control of Venezuela's oil production and exports, as a model for these plans.
