The seminar has been organized in response to the amended Personal Information Protection Act, which will be implemented on September 11. The main points include: increasing the upper limit of punitive administrative fines for repeated or significant violations to up to 10% of total sales, mandatory ISMS-P certification for personal information processors above a certain size, clarifying the responsibilities of company representatives, and strengthening the role of the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO).

The welcoming speech will be given by Kim Sanggon, Managing Partner at Lee & Ko (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 23rd class), and the congratulatory address by Jang Seokyoung, Advisor at Lee & Ko. Lee Geunwoo, Professor at the School of Law, Gachon University, will discuss "Changes in the Penalty System and Future Tasks—Focusing on Past Case Rulings and Response Strategies." Attorney Ko Hwan-gyeong (31st class) will present on "Compliance Response Strategies under the Amended Personal Information Protection Act."
During the comprehensive discussion session, Co-President Choi Kyungjin will serve as the moderator. Panelists include Lee Haewon, Professor at the Graduate School of Law, Kangwon National University; Cha Hobum, Executive Vice President of SKT; Son Kyungmin, Attorney at Lee & Ko; Lee Jingyu, Executive Vice President at Naver; Choi Jia, Senior Judge at Daegu District Court; Hwang Boseong, Director of the Personal Information Division at Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA); and Baek Daehyun, Director of the Cyber Incident Response Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Co-President Choi Kyungjin stated, "At a time when personal information protection policy is shifting from ex-post regulation to preventive measures, it is especially important to examine the significance and implications of the main provisions of the amended Personal Information Protection Act. I hope this seminar will serve as an academic review of key issues in the revised law and become a forum where academia, the legal community, industry, and government can jointly seek directions for improvement."
