Undocumented Foreign National Escapes from Police Escort in Changwon After Removing Handcuffs ... Police in Pursuit
An undocumented foreign national escaped while being escorted to the Changwon Immigration Office, and police are currently tracking him.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency on June 11, a Sri Lankan man in his 30s, identified as A, fled at around 9:30 p.m. on June 10 in the parking lot of the Changwon Immigration Office in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do.
He had been apprehended in Hapcheon on suspicion of illegal stay and was being transported to the Changwon Immigration Office along with two other foreign nationals of the same nationality.
He reportedly escaped while getting out of a van under police escort, having managed to remove one side of his handcuffs.
There were four police officers present at the time, but it is not yet known how A managed to remove the handcuffs.

The police are currently tracking A’s whereabouts by analyzing nearby closed-circuit (CC) TV footage around the Changwon Immigration Office and mobilizing all available personnel.
