Kyungdong Pharmaceutical and Owl Bio to Present Once-Monthly Obesity Treatment at ADA 2026
The clinical results of Kyungdong Pharmaceutical and Owl Bio's obesity treatment are being recognized for their technological prowess, as they have been selected for presentation at major academic conferences in the United States.
Kyungdong Pharmaceutical announced on June 11 that the clinical results of 'AUL009', a once-monthly semaglutide obesity treatment candidate jointly developed with Owl Bio, were selected as a Late-Breaking Abstract at the world's most prestigious 'American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2026', where the pharmacokinetic (PK) and safety results were presented.
AUL009 is a once-monthly semaglutide injection that applies Owl Bio's proprietary long-acting drug delivery platform, 'XTINA' technology. Through this clinical trial, its validity as a once-monthly obesity treatment was demonstrated, and patient compliance was maximized by minimizing gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and vomiting that patients commonly experience during the initial dosing period.
It also offers greater convenience in administration. While general long-acting injectable drugs require the use of thick needles, AUL009 is designed to be administered with an ultra-fine 27G (gauge) needle.
