Planting Seeds for Mongolia's Future Amid Desertification
An environmental organization from Busan has offered a small ray of hope by planting trees on the vast Mongolian steppes, where the climate crisis and desertification are rapidly progressing.
The Busan Mother Green Movement Headquarters (BMGM, President Dongsoon Park) announced on June 11 that it had carried out the "BMGM Pureun Mongolia Tree Planting Project" at Eco International Park in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on June 10.
More than 20 participants, including BMGM President Dongsoon Park (Chairman of the Dongseo Academy Foundation), board members, and executive committee members, took part in the project. Taking into account the local environment, which is experiencing ongoing desertification, participants personally planted 40 spruce trees known for their resilience.

This tree planting effort goes beyond a simple overseas volunteer activity. It is an environmental project that has been prepared over a long period in order to help prevent desertification and participate in the practice of carbon neutrality. Through tree planting, BMGM hopes to contribute to the restoration of the local ecosystem and raise awareness of the importance of responding to the climate crisis.
President Dongsoon Park stated, "Each and every tree planted in Mongolia is a small act for our planet, which is facing difficulties due to climate change," and added, "I hope that more attention and participation will be devoted to environmental conservation and the practice of carbon neutrality for future generations."

The organization has carried out a variety of activities, including river restoration, energy conservation, food waste reduction campaigns, and environmental education, and has received honors such as the Presidential Citation and the Korea Environment Grand Prize.
