GC Green Cross Shares Its mRNA Vaccine Development Strategy at "Seoul Pandemic X Summit 2026"
Developing a COVID-19 Vaccine Based on Proprietary mRNA-LNP Platform
GC Green Cross announced on June 11 that it participated in the "Seoul Pandemic X Summit 2026" on June 10, where it presented its mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) vaccine development strategy for future pandemic response.
This summit was organized to explore international cooperation strategies for responding to future pandemics. A wide range of stakeholders participated to discuss global collaboration systems and rapid vaccine development and supply strategies.
GC Green Cross reported that, during the event, it shared the status of its proprietary mRNA-LNP platform and the ongoing development of its COVID-19 vaccine based on this platform.
Since 2019, GC Green Cross has been continuously conducting research on its mRNA-LNP platform utilizing AI deep learning technology. Through its "Codon Optimization Software," the company has secured the capability to design mRNA sequences that maximize protein expression efficiency, and has improved the delivery efficiency of mRNA pharmaceuticals with an AI-based LNP lipid structure and composition optimization technology. The codon optimization software is a process that maximizes protein expression efficiency (of mRNA), which is a key determinant of vaccine efficacy. By optimizing mRNA so that human cells can read its genetic information more easily and quickly, this technology enables a strong immune response even with a small amount of vaccine.
The COVID-19 mRNA vaccine candidate developed using this platform has demonstrated an immune response on par with global vaccines in preclinical studies, while also confirming its stability.
In addition, GC Green Cross has independently established a fully end-to-end process covering all stages from cell line development, mRNA synthesis, LNP formulation, to finished product manufacturing and quality analysis.
Jaeuk Jung, Head of R&D at GC Green Cross, stated, "Based on our accumulated mRNA research capabilities and production infrastructure, we are building a foundation for rapid response to future pandemics," adding, "We will continue our efforts to secure global competitiveness in vaccine development."
