First Visit to Korea This Year Following Two Visits Last Year
"AI Work Innovation" Lecture at Samsung Suwon Campus
Samsung DX Division Introduces External Generative AI for Work
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, will visit South Korea to meet with executives and employees of Samsung Electronics. As Samsung Electronics has declared a full-scale adoption of "AI Transformation (AX)," this visit aims to directly share strategies for work innovation using generative AI.
According to Samsung Electronics on June 11, CEO Altman will visit Korea on the 15th to attend the "2026 Device eXperience (DX) Insight Talk" event at the company's Suwon Campus. He is scheduled to take the stage at 10 a.m. to deliver a lecture on work innovation powered by AI, under the theme "The Era of Working with AI and the Future Changes AI Will Bring." The lecture will be broadcast live online so that not only employees of the DX division but also those in the DS division and Samsung SDS can follow along in real time.
CEO Altman, who is the CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, the developer of the generative AI ChatGPT, is a leading figure in the global AI race, driving technological leadership. Last year, he visited Korea twice and met with President Lee Jaemyung, as well as Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jaeyong and SK Group Chairman Chey Taewon, to concretize collaboration on the "Stargate Project."

The company has decided to fully introduce generative AI into its work and will actively pursue an AI-centered transformation of its working methods. On the 12th, the DX division announced that it would officially implement external generative AI services for its employees. From now on, DX division employees will be able to utilize ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, and Claude within the company.
The key feature is that employees are not limited to a single AI service; instead, they can choose the AI that best fits the characteristics and objectives of their specific work. The company explained that this is a strategic decision to provide an environment where every employee can use the optimal tools, rather than introducing AI only as a one-time measure.
Previously, Samsung Electronics conducted a review to verify the effectiveness of potential external generative AI services with over 2,500 employees, ultimately selecting three leading generative AI services from global big tech companies. With this, Samsung Electronics plans to: ▲ enhance work productivity, ▲ drive real innovation in working methods, ▲ increase decision-making speed, and ▲ elevate execution capabilities across the entire organization.
The decision to use external generative AI stems from the company's aim to fundamentally transform work practices, accelerate AI transformation, and, based on this, enhance the business competitiveness of the DX division in the global market to deliver better products and service experiences to customers.
No Taemoon, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics, stated, "The introduction of external generative AI is not merely about providing AI as a work tool, but marks a starting point for fundamentally changing how we work and the speed at which we execute." He emphasized, "By creating an environment where every employee can utilize the most suitable AI for their work, we will not only boost individual productivity but also enhance execution capabilities across the entire organization, thereby taking the business competitiveness of the DX division to the next level."
Going forward, Samsung Electronics plans to continually advance its services and operational policies to reflect the diverse roles and organizational characteristics within the company, ensuring that AI can be used more effectively in actual work settings. Through these efforts, Samsung Electronics aims to move beyond the simple application of AI at work and fully pursue an AX initiative that reorganizes the way the entire organization operates around AI.
