Bae, Kim & Lee Recruits Hyungseok Kang and Jinyook Lee to Strengthen Corporate Advisory and M&A Capabilities
Expanding Advisory Capabilities to Cover
Domestic and Cross-Border Transactions, Investments, and Industry-Specific Regulatory Issues
On June 11, Bae, Kim & Lee LLC announced that it has recruited Hyungseok Kang, a foreign attorney, and Jinyook Lee, an attorney, to strengthen its corporate advisory and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) capabilities. Bae, Kim & Lee explained that it plans to expand its advisory capacity to cover both domestic and cross-border transactions, investments, and industry-specific regulatory issues, as transaction structures become increasingly complex due to the expansion of overseas investments, industrial restructuring, and changes in the regulatory environment.

View original imageHyungseok Kang, a foreign attorney, graduated from Columbia Law School in 2008 and obtained his New York State bar license in 2009. He has worked at Paul Hastings’ New York office, Yulchon LLC, and Lee & Ko. He possesses expertise across all aspects of corporate M&A and cross-border transactions, and has advised on a wide range of deals, including Netflix’s acquisition of a stake in Studio Dragon, LVMH Group’s acquisition of a stake in Gentle Monster, and Dongwha Pharm’s acquisition of Vietnam’s Trung Son Pharma. Based on his experience seconded to IMM Private Equity, he has also built expertise in private equity investments.
Jinyook Lee graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in business administration and completed the 36th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He has provided advisory services at Yulchon LLC and Lee & Ko. With over 15 years of experience primarily in corporate M&A and the healthcare sector, he also has expertise in compliance, anti-corruption, foreign and overseas investment, and legislative consulting. He has been involved in projects such as the acquisition of a Vietnamese pharmaceutical company by Mirae Asset Daewoo and Daewoong Pharmaceutical, the establishment of the online video service (OTT) ‘Wavve’ by SK Square and the three terrestrial broadcasters, and healthcare advisory work for multinational pharmaceutical companies.
The two attorneys have collaborated as corporate advisory experts for over 16 years, and have provided counsel on transactions such as Captivision’s listing on the NASDAQ in 2023 and KWave Media’s planned NASDAQ listing in 2025. Within Bae, Kim & Lee’s corporate law group, they will handle domestic and cross-border M&A, overseas investment, private equity investment, healthcare, and related regulatory matters.
