Hanpass Sees 240-Fold Growth in Non-Remittance Platform Transactions Over Five Years
The transaction volume of Hanpass's non-remittance platform has grown approximately 240-fold over the past five years.
According to Hanpass on June 11, the transaction volume for its non-remittance business was recorded at about 1.1 billion won in 2021, about 29 billion won in 2022, about 105.9 billion won in 2023, about 218.5 billion won in 2024, and about 265.3 billion won in 2025. This growth is attributed to the establishment of key transaction pillars such as check cards, mobility, transportation booking, overseas bill payment, prepaid phone recharge, insurance, international logistics, and its own payment service, ThePay.
The number of monthly payment transactions increased about 14 times, from approximately 120,000 in May 2022 to about 1.66 million in May 2026. During the same period, the monthly payment amount grew about 12 times, from approximately 1.8 billion won to about 21.3 billion won. The check card service, which was in its early stages, has become Hanpass's main non-remittance revenue stream within four years.
The company's core remittance business, which leads the domestic small-value overseas remittance market, has also continued steady growth. The annual number of remittance transactions increased for five consecutive years, from about 1.67 million in 2021 to approximately 5 million in 2025, while the number of monthly remitters surpassed 160,000 in May 2026, up from 50,000 in May 2021.
