US Launches 'Defensive Strikes on Multiple Targets'... Iran Warns of 'Harsh Response'
CENTCOM: "Multiple Targets Hit"
Tensions are rising in the Middle East as Iran has hinted at retaliation following two consecutive days of U.S. attacks on Iranian targets, which Washington claims were carried out in self-defense.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East, announced on X (formerly Twitter) on the 10th (local time) that "at 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time today (6:15 a.m. Korea Standard Time on June 11), we launched additional defensive strikes against multiple targets inside Iran."
CENTCOM explained, "These strikes are a response to Iran's unjust and ongoing provocations." However, it did not disclose specific facilities or regions targeted in the attack.
The United States launched a retaliatory attack on the 9th after an Iranian drone downed a U.S. Army Apache helicopter on the 8th. President Donald Trump told reporters that day, "Today, we will strike Iran even harder again," expressing his intention to intensify the offensive.
In response, Iran has also taken a hardline stance. Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency, citing military sources, reported that if the United States attacks Iran, Iran will target American assets in the Middle East.
The source stated, "Last night, we proved to the United States that any reckless action would trigger an immediate response from Iran, and that Iran will not tolerate any aggressive move."
