On-Site Video Commentary Services for the Visually Impaired at Palaces and Royal Tombs
From June 18, On-Site Experiences at the Four Major Palaces, Jongmyo Shrine, and Taereung
Hands-On Exploration of Floral Lattice Windows and Stone Figures
The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center of the Cultural Heritage Administration announced on June 11 that, starting from June 18, it will operate on-site video commentary services for the visually impaired at the four major palaces in Seoul, Jongmyo Shrine, and Taereung Royal Tomb.
This is a guided program in which professional commentators provide detailed historical explanations and vivid visual descriptions. Participants can directly touch cultural heritage items, such as the floral-patterned wooden lattice windows of Injeongjeon Hall at Changdeokgung Palace and the stone figures at the burial mound of Taereung Royal Tomb, to experience them firsthand.
This service, which began in 2023 at the four major palaces, was expanded to Jongmyo Shrine in 2024 and to Taereung Royal Tomb last year. In the second half of this year, it will also be available at Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs.
