The court conducted an on-site inspection at the second polling station in Jamsil 7-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, where a shortage of ballot papers occurred during the June 3 local elections; however, evidence preservation was not achieved.

View original imageOn the afternoon of June 10, Presiding Judge Kim Jiyeon of the Seoul Eastern District Court Civil Division 51 carried out the evidence preservation procedure at the senior citizens' center in the Woosung Apartment complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where the second polling station of Jamsil 7-dong was set up. However, the storage box containing the 1,900 printed ballot papers, which was the subject of the evidence preservation, had already been removed from the site.
After accompanying the on-site verification, Kim Jeongcheol, Supreme Council Member of the Reform Party, told reporters, "We went in to check the box that had contained the ballot papers, but it was not there," adding, "We looked around to see if there was anything else nearby and discussed how to proceed in the future."
He continued, "No additional (meaningful) evidence has been secured," and added, "The site has been completely cleared, and even the National Election Commission does not know where it (the box) has gone. This is a serious problem."

Previously, Supreme Council Member Kim had filed a request for evidence preservation with the Seoul Eastern District Court. The court partially accepted Kim’s request the previous day, deciding to proceed with preservation procedures for the ballot paper storage box and CCTV footage, among other items.
