BTS Becomes First Foreign Artist to Surpass 900 Million Streams on Japan’s Oricon Chart
On June 10, Big Hit Music announced that BTS has surpassed 900 million cumulative streams for a single song on Japan's Oricon chart, marking the first time a foreign artist has achieved this milestone.
According to the weekly streaming ranking (covering the period from June 1 to 7) released by Oricon on the same day, BTS's "Dynamite" exceeded 900 million cumulative streams. It is the eighth song in Oricon chart history to cross 900 million streams, and the first by an overseas artist.
As of this week, "Dynamite" has accumulated a total of 900,950,000 streams. BTS becomes the sixth artist overall to reach the 900 million mark, following top Japanese acts such as Yoasobi and Yuuri.
On the same chart released that day, "Permission to Dance" also surpassed 500 million cumulative streams. This is BTS's third song to achieve this, following "Dynamite" and "Butter." BTS is the only foreign artist with more than one song to surpass 500 million streams on the chart.
