The decision will be made by the National Convention Preparatory Committee (Jeonjunwi)."
Chief Spokesperson Kang added, "It may be necessary to streamline procedures or amend certain provisions by establishing new supplementary rules through the Party Affairs Committee and the Central Committee," and continued, "The Party Affairs Committee will meet at 4 p.m. today, and the Central Committee is scheduled to meet on the 16th."
According to the Democratic Party's constitution and regulations, the National Convention Preparatory Committee must be established at least 50 days before candidate registration for the National Convention. Considering this, the committee is expected to be set up by the end of this month at the latest.
Chief Spokesperson Kang further explained, "If the new supplementary rule is approved by the Central Committee, the National Convention will be held on August 17. If it is not approved by the Central Committee, the convention could be held on August 30."
The Democratic Party plans to form the National Convention Preparatory Committee and the Election Management Committee in line with the schedule if the proposed supplementary rule passes the Central Committee.
Regarding the shortage of ballot papers at the National Election Commission, the party decided to establish a special non-standing committee tentatively named the "Special Committee on Election Management System Reform." Chief Spokesperson Kang explained, "We plan to form the special committee by adding external members to the current 'Election System Reform Task Force (TF)' that is operating within the party."
