Korea Manhwa Contents Agency Launches Tailored Mentoring Support for Middle-Aged Cartoonists
Consulting on Planning, Illustration, AI Technology, and Platform Launch Strategies
The Korea Manhwa Contents Agency announced on June 10 that it will launch a retraining support program for 25 middle-aged cartoonists aged 40 or older. The agency has revamped its existing "Webtoon Senior Mentoring Program," now focusing on strengthening practical skills in response to changes in digital technologies, including generative AI.
Twenty professional mentors from various fields will conduct 360 mentoring sessions by December. Experts in five areas—planning and story, direction and storyboard, illustration, digital technology, and the industry—will provide guidance throughout every stage, from planning the next projects to strategies for launching on new platforms.

The Korea Manhwa Contents Agency held a kickoff workshop for participating cartoonists and mentors at the Webtoon Convergence Center on May 29, officially commencing the program. Moving forward, the agency plans to run competency-building education sessions, workshops, and results-sharing events together. Director Paek Jonghoon said, "The combination of seasoned experience of middle-aged creators and the latest technology is key to preserving diversity in the comics ecosystem."
