KakaoBank Appoints Former Kia Executive Vice President Wooju Kim as Head of Global Division
KakaoBank has appointed Wooju Kim, former Executive Vice President of Kia's Global Business Management Division, as its new Head of the Global Division.
According to KakaoBank on June 9, Kim has spent approximately 30 years at Hyundai Motor Group and Kia, overseeing global business operations and future growth strategies.
He has held positions such as Head of the PMO Business Department and Director of the Planning & Coordination Office at Hyundai Motor Group, as well as Executive Vice President of Kia's Global Business Management Division. Kim also led major global investments and new business projects, including the establishment of HMG Global, a U.S. investment holding company, and the acquisition of robotics company Boston Dynamics.
KakaoBank is currently expanding its overseas business, including investing in the Indonesian digital bank Superbank, participating in the establishment of Thailand's virtual bank "Bank X," and collaborating with Mongolia's MCS Group. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand into additional regions and broaden its business scope beyond equity investments and knowledge transfer, aiming to lead the development of mobile financial systems and drive the globalization of "K-Finance."
