Fire Insurance Association Appoints Former KB Insurance CEO Kihwan Kim as New Chairman
The Fire Insurance Association announced on June 9 that it has officially appointed Kihwan Kim, former CEO of KB Insurance, as its 19th chairman.
On this day, the association held a general meeting of members, which consists of domestic non-life insurance companies, and finalized the decision to appoint Kihwan Kim—the sole candidate recommended by the Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee—as the 19th chairman.
The inauguration ceremony for the 19th chairman is scheduled to take place on June 22, and Chairman Kim will begin his official duties on the day of the ceremony.

Chairman Kim graduated from Wooshin High School in Seoul and the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, entering the financial sector in 1991. He has served as Executive Director of the Consumer Protection Group at KB Kookmin Bank, Chief Risk Officer at KB Financial Group, and Chief Financial Officer at KB Financial Group. From 2021, he served as CEO of KB Insurance for three years.
