Korea University of Technology and Education and ILO to Launch "Master's Program in Digital TVET"
Korea University of Technology and Education will launch a new "Master's Program in TVET for the Digital Economy" in collaboration with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in January next year. This marks the first time that ITCILO has established an official degree program jointly with a foreign university.
The aim of this program is to nurture global experts in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) who can respond to the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. The program will admit a total of 30 students, including five Korean nationals, and will be open to both domestic and international applicants.
The program will be operated as a one-year intensive master's course under the Graduate School of Industry at Korea University of Technology and Education. Upon completion of 30 credits, graduates will be awarded a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from Korea University of Technology and Education, with ITCILO certification indicated on the diploma.
The curriculum is structured as a three-stage hybrid program: online theoretical and policy studies, in-person education in Korea, and a capstone project. From January to June next year, students will participate in online classes; from late June to August, they will attend a six-week in-person session at the university's campus in Korea. From September to December, students will complete a practical capstone project reflecting the needs of their respective countries.
The curriculum consists of eight modules, covering the TVET system and digital transformation, digital pedagogy, inclusive digital technology pathways, edutech, labor market information, policy and finance, and innovative cases of Korean-style TVET. AI, machine learning, and generative AI will be actively utilized not only as educational topics but also as learning tools.
