Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Tourism Organization are recruiting 50 teams from other regions who need deep rest and recharging from their busy daily lives to participate in the "A Month of Total Relaxation at Jeju Certified Safe Rural Guesthouses." The program offers the chance to stay for at least 28 consecutive nights at officially certified safe rural guesthouses and experience Jeju’s hidden charms. Applications will be accepted until July 3.

This initiative goes beyond simply subsidizing accommodation costs. It aims to establish a new tourism model where visitors from outside Jeju can immerse themselves in the daily lives and local culture of Jeju’s rural villages. Support amounts to 300,000 won for a solo applicant, and up to 600,000 won for teams of two or more, provided as reimbursement for actual expenses.
Eligible applicants must have a registered address outside Jeju. Selected teams are required to stay continuously at the designated guesthouse until November 22, 2026, and are tasked with actively promoting Jeju travel and certified safe guesthouses via their personal social media accounts. Those wishing to participate must submit a written application and travel plan by the application deadline via email, after which a thorough screening process will determine the final selection.
This one-month stay support program is seen as a response to the recent shift in tourism trends, moving from sightseeing-focused trips to long-term stays that allow for deep immersion in local life. By putting its "certified safe" infrastructure front and center, Jeju aims to lower psychological barriers for visitors from outside the island and boost occupancy rates at guesthouses in rural towns and villages, serving as a practical measure to support the local economy.
In particular, by attracting modern people seeking emotional rest and a digital nomad lifestyle into Jeju’s rural ecosystem, the program is expected to expand the resident population and inject sustainable vitality into the region’s struggling local markets, serving as a sophisticated defense mechanism for economic self-sufficiency.

The core foundation of the program, "Certified Safe Rural Guesthouses," is an official system designated by Jeju Province, which strictly evaluates a total of 20 items across six areas—including fire safety, sanitation, and crime prevention—to ensure safety and service quality. A representative from the Jeju Tourism Organization stated, "This will be a special experience for office workers in need of rest, aspiring entrepreneurs, and middle-aged participants seeking a new chapter after retirement. We hope many people will enjoy Jeju’s unique culture while staying in safe and comfortable guesthouses."
