Hoban Construction and Korea Institute of Construction Technology Join Forces for Smart Construction Technology R&D
Signing of MOU for Mutual Cooperation in Technology Sector
Hoban Construction announced on June 9 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation in the field of smart construction technology with the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, a government-funded research institute specializing in construction and land management, on June 8.
This agreement was established to build an industry-academia-research cooperation system, expand the innovation ecosystem in the smart construction technology sector, and support the commercialization of promising technologies.

View original imageHoban Construction plans to identify companies with smart construction technologies and support open innovation and proof of concept (PoC) at each stage of their growth. The Korea Institute of Construction Technology will provide technical consulting and R&D collaboration to foster startups, as well as linkages with the infrastructure of its Smart Construction Support Center.
Before the agreement, the two organizations co-hosted the "2026 Hoban Innovation Technology Competition" to establish a system for discovering promising future technologies. Applications from participating companies are being accepted until the end of this month. Moving forward, the organizations will jointly evaluate the submissions to support the discovery of promising smart construction technologies and collaborate on proof of concept for the selected companies.
In addition, Hoban Construction, Hoban Industrial, Taihan Cable, and other major affiliates of the Hoban Group agreed to further increase the potential for commercialization so that innovative technologies such as AI, robotics, new energy technologies, and digital transformation can be applied at their business sites.

Kim Yongju, Director of the Construction Industry Promotion Headquarters at the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, stated, "Based on our experience operating the Smart Construction Support Center, the Korea Institute of Construction Technology will actively support technical consulting, proof of concept, and commercialization linkages."
