The Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation (Chairman Lee Sunyeol) announced that Yeoju was selected as the first destination for the “2026 Happy Journey with GKL” program, organized by the GKL Social Contribution Foundation. From June 6 to 7, 26 participants and 3 staff members from the Nonsan City Family Center visited Yeoju for a two-day, one-night trip.
This trip was designed to expand travel opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups and to reduce the gap in tourism experiences between different social classes. As a partner in the GKL Social Contribution Foundation Tourism Alliance, the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation supported the project by investigating tourist attractions, linking experience programs, providing souvenirs, and cooperating with related organizations.
During the two-day, one-night trip, the participants enjoyed a variety of programs to experience the nature, history, and culture of Yeoju, including Sound Walking at Hwanghaksan Arboretum, riding the Hwangpo sailboat, a pottery-making experience at the Ceramic Culture Center, a visit to the Namhangang Suspension Bridge, and a tea ceremony experience at the Birthplace of Empress Myeongseong Historic Site.
One participant, Ms. A, shared, “It was meaningful to create wonderful memories by traveling with my child for the first time in a while. Experiencing Yeoju’s diverse culture and tourist attractions made this a truly special time.”
The “2026 Happy Journey with GKL” program is also scheduled to visit Yeoju for additional two-day, one-night trips in September and November. The foundation plans to continue working together to ensure successful trip operations and to revitalize local tourism.
