University Students' Ideas to Change the Community... DRB Launches "Project C Lab"
Pusan National University and Busan Catholic University Join Hands to Solve Local Community Issues
DRB Dongil Co., Ltd. has officially launched a hands-on social contribution project aimed at solving local community issues together with university students.
DRB announced that on June 6, it held an orientation for the university student community contribution program "Project C Lab" in collaboration with the Geumdogaebi regional cooperation body in Geumjeong-gu at Campus D Busan, and has begun operating the initiative.
The newly launched "Project C Lab" is a university student participation-based social contribution program that embodies the values of Change, Community, and Collaboration. It is operated as a field-oriented model, where students visit local communities in person to identify issues and plan and implement solutions on-site.
In particular, the project goes beyond the conventional idea competition format, where participation was limited to proposing ideas, by having students directly engage as agents of change in the community, giving the program additional significance.
This initiative involves students from Pusan National University and Busan Catholic University, who will each form their own social contribution labs and carry out various projects in the local community through the end of the year.
The program is an advanced model based on the experience of the four-month "DRB Impact Challenge" that DRB conducted last year. It is designed to ensure that the ideas and practical experience accumulated by students as they address local issues do not end as one-off activities, but continue to have a lasting impact.
The project operates as a collaborative system involving DRB, a member institution of the Geumdogaebi regional cooperation body, as well as Sejeong Nanum Foundation, Geumjeong-gu General Social Welfare Center, Busan Metropolitan City Council on Social Welfare, Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Information Center, Haengnim Research Institute, and Namgwang General Social Welfare Center.
Participating students will be directly involved in all stages of the process, starting with capacity-building education, followed by local research, project planning and execution, and results sharing. The outcomes of their activities will be presented at a results report meeting scheduled for December.
A DRB representative stated, "We hope that university students will create meaningful change as they directly engage with the local community to discover and solve problems," and added, "We will continue to promote diverse social contribution activities that grow together with the community."
