Governor Park Wansu: "Disclose Personal Contact Information, Fully Open Provincial Government" ... Stresses Internal Innovation and Resident Communication
Governor's Schedule to Be Disclosed Throughout June
"Disclose the governor's personal contact number and email address to all provincial government officials and executives and employees of all affiliated and funded institutions."
Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, who was re-elected in the 9th nationwide local elections, made this statement as he pledged to thoroughly listen to the opinions of the provincial government, affiliated organizations, and residents of the province in order to successfully conclude the 8th elected term and prepare for the 9th term of local government.

On June 8, at the provincial government conference room, Governor Park held the first meeting of department and bureau heads since the local elections. He emphasized, "It is time to thoroughly analyze and wrap up the achievements of the 8th administration, systematically organize the pledges and current issues promised to residents during the election period, and concretize the direction and slogan for the 9th administration."
He stated, "In order for the 9th administration to boldly implement policies that truly benefit the residents, internal cohesion and integrity within the government must come first," adding, "A strong internal organizational innovation is essential."
He continued, "Members of the organization are most aware of improper practices, misconduct, and corruption within the organization," and instructed, "Disclose the governor's personal mobile phone number and email address to all provincial government officials, as well as all executives and employees of affiliated and funded institutions, without exception."
Governor Park explained, "There needs to be open access to my personal contact information so that anyone can directly call, send a messenger message, or email the governor to report any organizational issues."
He further ordered, "In addition to the policy proposals organized by the campaign team during the election, it is very important to hear directly from the residents. Disclose the governor's schedule to the residents and fully open the provincial government building to the public until June 30."
He also said, "During the election period, I repeatedly asked senior officials not to get involved in the campaign and to faithfully focus on their assigned work. If there were any cases of misconduct by public officials, strict accountability will be pursued through an investigation by the Audit Committee."
Accordingly, for the entire month of June, Gyeongsangnam-do will operate a direct hotline to the governor to receive reports on unreasonable practices and innovative ideas within the organization and to address any identified issues.
In addition, the province plans to publicly announce available times for meetings with the governor via its official website, social media channels, and media outlets, and to allow not only local and functional organizations but also individual residents to freely visit the provincial government building to propose policies or submit civil complaints.

He stated, "Countermeasures against natural disasters and heatwaves caused by climate change are the utmost priority, which cannot be overemphasized. Department and bureau heads must visit and inspect, in person, the areas affected last year by landslides or river embankment collapses to ensure that emergency restoration has been properly completed."
"Administration that merely reviews documents from the office is never acceptable," he said, adding, "Jointly inspect disaster-prone facilities and countermeasures for vulnerable groups with city and county officials, and make thorough preparations in advance so that there is not a single casualty."
Governor Park also remarked, "According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the business sentiment index for small businesses and traditional markets in Gyeongnam showed the highest increase nationwide. This is the result of favorable conditions in Gyeongnam's main industries, which have recorded a trade surplus for 44 consecutive months, coupled with tailored livelihood policies such as Gyeongnam's living support fund, leading to a boost in domestic demand."
He requested, "In order to maintain this momentum of economic revitalization, make every effort to ensure that Gyeongnam's key projects are fully reflected in the national budget during the review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance before the draft budget is submitted to the National Assembly. If necessary, I will visit the Ministry of Economy and Finance myself."
He also pledged, "Competition among local governments is fierce regarding the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's second round of public institution relocations. I will mobilize all political and administrative capabilities of the province, including myself and local National Assembly members, to successfully attract the targeted institutions."
