Israel Claims to Have Destroyed Iran's Air Defense Systems... Dozens of Fighter Jets Used in Airstrikes
On the 100th day since the outbreak of war, Israel resumed hostilities with Iran and carried out a large-scale airstrike targeting Iran's air defense network.
On June 8 (local time), the Israeli military issued a statement saying, "The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has completed a large-scale airstrike targeting Iran's air defense systems."
According to the Israeli military, the operation took place overnight, with dozens of fighter jets deployed to strike strategic defense facilities within Iran. The Israeli military claimed, "Although Iran recently redeployed air defense systems nationwide to restore its weakened detection and defense capabilities following Operation Roaring Lion, these systems were destroyed in this attack."
The conflict between the two countries intensified again the previous day after Iran's missile attack. In response to an Israeli airstrike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, Iran fired 11 ballistic missiles toward northern Israel the previous evening. This was the first direct Iranian attack on Israeli territory since the ceasefire on April 8.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen also joined the expanding front by launching missiles toward Israel.

In response, Israel launched a retaliatory attack on Iranian military facilities in the early hours of the day. Iranian local media reported a series of explosions heard in major cities, including the capital Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
