G2G Bio Demonstrates Potential for Once-Monthly Formulation of Dual and Triple Agonist Obesity Drugs
"Demonstrating the Potential for SC Formulation of High-Dose Obesity Treatments"
G2G Bio has released preclinical data at a global conference, demonstrating the potential for developing a long-acting injectable formulation of next-generation obesity treatments.
The company announced on June 8 that it participated in the American Diabetes Association (ADA 2026) conference, held in New Orleans, USA, starting from June 5 (local time), where it presented preclinical study results for once-monthly formulations of dual and triple agonists: Cagrisema, Tirzepatide (product name Mounjaro), and Retatrutide.

View original imageCagrisema, Tirzepatide, and Retatrutide are drugs that have shown greater weight loss efficacy than conventional GLP-1-based treatments. In particular, Eli Lilly's Mounjaro has demonstrated an average weight loss effect of around 25% in clinical trials and is emerging as a global blockbuster pharmaceutical.
However, these drugs face limitations in being developed into once-monthly long-acting formulations due to the high dosage required per administration. For example, Cagrisema requires up to 9.6mg, Tirzepatide 15mg, and Retatrutide 12mg to be delivered in a single dose.
G2G Bio explained that it addressed this challenge by utilizing its proprietary drug delivery platform, InnoLAMP. This platform enables the loading of peptides at a high concentration of over 50%.
In experiments conducted on rodents, all three drugs showed an initial release rate of less than 5% within the first 24 hours after administration, and blood drug concentrations were maintained for more than 28 days. The company stated that, as a result, it has secured pharmacokinetic (PK) data that supports the potential development of a once-monthly subcutaneous (SC) injectable formulation.

Lee Heeyong, CEO of G2G Bio, said, "For dual and triple agonists, it is challenging to develop an SC formulation due to the high dosage, but based on our high drug-loading technology, we have obtained data showing both low initial release and a long half-life. Moving forward, we will focus on developing competitive formulations that enhance patient convenience and reduce side effects by leveraging our high drug-loading technology."
