Busan's Commercial Districts to Be "Flooded" by BTS: Big Sale Week to Coincide with World Tour Concerts
Discount Events with Participation from Small Businesses and Retailers
"Special Sale of Dongbaekjeon Tourism Gift Cards"
In mid-June, the commercial districts of Busan will be filled with activity thanks to BTS. The city of Busan is leveraging the BTS concert in Busan as an opportunity to boost local consumption.
On June 8, the Busan city government (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced that it will operate the 'Busan Big Sale Week' to revitalize the local economy in conjunction with the 'BTS World Tour ARIRANG IN BUSAN' concert, which will be held on June 12 and 13.
This initiative is designed to ensure that spending by domestic and international tourists visiting Busan for the concert will spread beyond the concert venue to local alley businesses, traditional markets, and large retailers.
From June 10 to 16, a private sector-led discount event will be held, with 550 small business stores and 9 large retailers participating. During the event, customers who shop at participating stores will receive an additional 2% cashback through the Dongbaekjeon card, as well as other benefits such as store-specific discounts and free gifts.
Major commercial areas such as Haeridan-gil, Jeonposaik-gil, the Busan National University commercial district, Busanjin Market, as well as Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch, Lotte Mall Dongbusan, and Emart Haeundae Branch will take part in the event.
At Busanjin Market, some stores will hold discount events, and participating businesses in local alley districts will offer various benefits to concertgoers. Emart Haeundae Branch will provide special benefits to customers who present their concert ticket and purchase receipt.
To encourage longer stays and increased spending, the city will also offer a special sale of Dongbaekjeon tourism gift cards in card format. A total of 2,000 gift cards, each worth 50,000 won, will be sold at a 15% discount. The gift cards can be purchased on June 12 and 13 at pop-up stores in Busan Station and on the first floor of Gimhae International Airport.
During the same period, a 'Busan Pop-up Store' featuring local companies and small business owners will be held at Busan Station Plaza. Twenty-eight companies will participate, showcasing Busan’s signature products, beauty items, crafts, and more.
In addition, the city plans to support the local economy by hosting a local specialty product fair and launching a Busan-style homestay program for foreign tourists, ensuring that the economic benefits of the concert are shared widely.
