SK hynix to Develop and Supply Memory in Line with AI Infrastructure Roadmap
Joint Entry Into New AI Markets with Nvidia, Including Physical AI
SK hynix is jointly developing next-generation memory with Nvidia to build a global AI (artificial intelligence) factory and is strengthening its long-term technology partnership to accelerate semiconductor design and manufacturing. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, expressed his ambitions, stating, "Together with SK hynix, we will expand our market scope beyond AI factories to include robotics and other computing platform sectors."
This announcement was made by CEO Huang and Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, at a media briefing held at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of June 8, 2026. CEO Huang said, "SK is our largest memory partner. Our partnership is world-class, and today, we are announcing a significant new enhancement to our partnership that will continue for years to come." He added, "We are jointly designing a roadmap so that we can advance Nvidia's architecture and SK's memory technology roadmap together."
During the subsequent Q&A session, CEO Huang emphasized, "Going forward, SK hynix will remain Nvidia's largest memory partner, and we will further diversify our partnership." Chairman Chey also stated, "Nvidia will become the largest customer for SK hynix, and we are committed to supplying chips to Nvidia." He also mentioned that SK Telecom would become an AI cloud provider.
Explaining the background of the collaboration, CEO Huang said, "The era of robotics and physical AI has finally arrived, and there is no country better prepared for robotics than Korea." He added that Korea possesses a large pool of AI research talent, manufacturing expertise, and leadership in the heavy industry and manufacturing sectors.
He reiterated that the profitability of AI will continue to grow and, as a result, the AI factory business will continue to expand in the future. "The AI factory business is booming worldwide," said CEO Huang. "We are still at the beginning stage of building AI infrastructure, and the future is very bright."

This long-term partnership is designed to ensure a stable supply of memory, taking into account the lengthy development cycles of advanced memory. Based on this, SK hynix will continue to supply memory that meets Nvidia's infrastructure roadmap and the global demand for building AI infrastructure.
Through this partnership, SK hynix will also enter new AI markets that Nvidia is pioneering, such as AI infrastructure, personal AI, and physical AI. The two companies plan to jointly develop memory for the following: the Vera Rubin AI supercomputer, Vera CPU (central processing unit), RTX Spark PC, and Jetson Thor robotic computing platform.
The companies will also collaborate to advance simulation technologies required for semiconductor development. SK hynix is increasing the processing speed and efficiency of simulation work necessary for semiconductor design and manufacturing by utilizing Nvidia's CUDA-X library and PhysicsNeMo framework. This includes TCAD (Technology Computer-Aided Design) for analyzing semiconductor process characteristics and computational lithography technology for precisely implementing semiconductor circuits.
The partnership will further expand to encompass the entire semiconductor design automation (EDA) and simulation sector. Through this, they aim to build a triangular collaboration system involving semiconductor manufacturers, Nvidia as a provider of AI computing platforms, and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software companies to drive innovation in the semiconductor development environment.
One of the main projects of this collaboration is to enhance digital twin technology, which is the core foundation for implementing autonomous manufacturing. SK hynix is utilizing Nvidia's Omniverse library and the openUSD (open-source framework) technology to reproduce actual semiconductor factories in a three-dimensional virtual space, enabling more precise visualization, analysis, and optimization of complex semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Furthermore, the two companies will work together to connect the digital twin environment with existing manufacturing systems and AI-based work processes. SK hynix explained that this will allow AI to analyze fab operation data in real time and automate work, thus improving productivity and operational efficiency, as well as further advancing manufacturing decision-making.

In the future, we will build AI factories together with Nvidia and share R&D (research and development) roadmaps that we develop with the company."
CEO Huang also predicted that demand for AI will continue to grow in the future. "We are at the very beginning stage of building AI infrastructure for the world. It is still truly early days," he said. "We will be building infrastructure for global artificial intelligence for the next ten years, or perhaps even longer." He added, "No matter what happens in the stock market, you should be happy because now is the time you can buy shares at a discounted price."
He commented that Korea possesses a very high level of technology based on its semiconductor and heavy industry sectors, making it a favorable environment for an 'AI revolution.' CEO Huang said, "The level of domestic consumption and development in software technology, artificial intelligence, science, and mathematics is very deep in Korea. As a result, Korea has become one of the world's leading countries contributing to artificial intelligence."
