Joint Research on Construction Site Automation and Smart Construction Technology

Daedong Robotics, the artificial intelligence (AI) robotics affiliate of the Daedong Group, announced on June 8 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GS Engineering & Construction for joint research and development cooperation in construction site automation and smart construction technology.

This agreement focuses on establishing a collaborative framework for smart construction technology based on AI field robots at construction sites and pioneering related markets. To achieve this, the two companies will closely cooperate in three key areas: ▲ reviewing the application of existing mass-produced AI field robots at construction sites, ▲ collaborating on smart construction operations and new technologies, and ▲ jointly conducting R&D and proof-of-concept (PoC) for construction site-specialized robots.

Daedong Robotics will be responsible for designing robots optimized for construction sites and advancing technology based on its autonomous robot platform. The company will concentrate its technical capabilities on assessing the applicability of existing mass-produced products to field operations, as well as conducting new robot R&D and proof-of-concept demonstrations. GS Engineering & Construction will provide construction sites for these demonstrations, identify requirements from the perspective of field operators to help shape the direction of technology development, and actively participate in technology verification and commercialization efforts.

Kang Sungcheol, CEO of Daedong Robotics, stated, "Construction sites are environments where repetitive tasks and heavy lifting are concentrated in non-standardized settings, making them an ideal stage to leverage the technologies and expertise Daedong Robotics has accumulated in the agricultural sector. By combining GS Engineering & Construction’s extensive on-site experience with Daedong Robotics’ proof-based AI technology, we aim to achieve tangible results in construction automation."
