Naver and Nvidia to Build Gigawatt-Scale AI Factory... Strengthening Sovereign AI
Building a 1GW-Scale AI Factory... Four Times the Size of the "Gak Sejong" Data Center
Collaboration Across LLMs, Physical AI, and More
NAVER is partnering with NVIDIA to build a gigawatt (GW)-scale artificial intelligence (AI) factory. The two companies plan to collaborate across a variety of fields, including AI data centers, sovereign AI models, large language models (LLMs), and physical AI.
On June 8, Raj Mirpuri, Vice President of Global AI Cloud and Infrastructure Ecosystem at NVIDIA, stated during a media briefing, "NVIDIA and NAVER have agreed to jointly expand sovereign infrastructure to the GW level through the NVIDIA DSX platform." NAVER also announced on the same day that, "In response to the surging global demand for AI infrastructure, we intend to jointly build and operate large-scale global AI factories through a strategic partnership with NVIDIA."
On the 1st, at the Nvidia GTC Taipei 2026 held in Taipei, Taiwan, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, introduced Naver Cloud as a major AI native cloud partner. Naver Cloud

Initially, the two companies plan to begin with a 55-megawatt (MW) AI factory in 2027 and then move forward with the construction of a GW-scale AI factory.
NAVER will use its data center 'GAK Sejong' as a forward base. Starting with 55MW operation in the first half of 2027, the company plans to expand its infrastructure to 100MW within the same year and to 200MW overseas by 2028. Through these efforts, NAVER aims to establish GW-scale infrastructure. One gigawatt is about four times the maximum capacity of NAVER's largest domestic data center, 'GAK Sejong,' and can accommodate hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA's latest graphics processing units (GPUs) simultaneously.
Technical cooperation will also be strengthened. NAVER's capabilities in building and operating its own GPU clusters will be combined with NVIDIA's DSX platform. DSX is an integrated platform that supports the design, deployment, and operation of AI factories all in one place. The goal is to enhance data center operational efficiency and business scalability through this collaboration.
The two companies will also work together in the field of physical AI. NAVER plans to build a 'Seoul World Model' that utilizes its own spatial modeling and Street View data within NVIDIA's world foundation model 'Cosmos.' This will lead to next-generation technology cooperation in the field of spatial intelligence.
Recently, NAVER became the first Korean company to join the 'NVIDIA Nemotron Alliance.' The Nemotron Alliance is a consortium led by NVIDIA that includes 12 global AI companies such as Cohere, Mistral AI, and Perplexity. NAVER contributes to the open model development process through pre-training, post-training, and reinforcement learning. Based on this, NAVER is working to further advance the performance of its own LLM, 'HyperCLOVA X.'
Meanwhile, NAVER Chairman Lee Hae-jin and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will meet today at NAVER's headquarters, 1784, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, to discuss the detailed roadmap for their ongoing projects and specific cooperative measures for joint entry into the global market. The two companies have already agreed to expand their AI infrastructure ecosystem business together, not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also across Europe and the Middle East.

Chairman Lee stated, "Through this alliance, we are very encouraged to be able to present concrete alternatives for each region and country around the world to build their own sovereign AI capabilities. This collaboration is highly significant in that it provides an opportunity for NAVER's technological infrastructure competitiveness to take a leap forward in the global market."
