POSCO Group Launches '2026 Global Volunteer Week,' Its Largest Annual Volunteer Event
All Group Employees Participate in the 17th Year of the Initiative
Overseas Subsidiaries Also Carry Out Tailored Local Activities, Such as Playground Repairs
POSCO Group is holding its largest annual volunteer event, the '2026 Global Volunteer Week,' from June 4 for nine days, with participation from employees of all group companies both in Korea and abroad.
'Global Volunteer Week' is POSCO Group's signature social contribution activity. Each year, a special volunteer week is designated in May or June, during which approximately 24,000 employees in 23 countries participate in volunteer activities tailored to the unique characteristics of each country and region. This year marks the 17th anniversary of the initiative.

On the first day of the volunteer week, Chairman Jang visited Jungsan 1-ri in Pohang City, where he joined about 200 group employees in activities such as installing handrails on the village pavilion stairs and removing fallen leaves and branches from the nearby stream, all to help create a 'Safe Village' environment.
This location, situated near Naeyeonsan and Cheollyeongsan mountains, is highly vulnerable to large-scale fires in the event of a wildfire and has experienced frequent fires in the past. Due to an aging population, the area faces difficulties in responding quickly when fires occur.
At this site, POSCO Group employees replaced old fences with steel fences made from POSCO Group steel, delivered senior safety kits—comprising spray-type fire extinguishers, LED sensor lights, and automatic fire-extinguishing power strips—to local households, and cleared fallen leaves and branches from around the stream using wildfire suppression equipment made with POSCO steel to prepare for heavy rains and wildfires. Furthermore, they held a demonstration event with local firefighters to introduce an AI-powered wildfire detection system using advanced CCTV and drones, aiming to implement it within the year and strengthen wildfire response capabilities.
In addition, in collaboration with ARK, an AI healthcare specialist company, POSCO Group conducted advance health checkups for elderly residents who find it difficult to visit hospitals regularly, using an AI platform to monitor key health indicators such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cardiovascular health, and cognitive function, thereby supporting healthcare management in the community.
Notably, this volunteer program was linked with 'Change My Town,' an interactive program that identifies and renovates aging spaces in local communities, and is one of the flagship projects of the 'POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation,' which is funded by the voluntary donation of 1% of employees' salaries. This connection created greater synergy between the two initiatives.
Additionally, each POSCO Group company is planning further activities such as renovating homes and leveling access roads for vulnerable groups to improve residential environments, as well as providing rehabilitation exercise equipment to prevent musculoskeletal problems and support physical activity. Overseas subsidiaries in countries such as Vietnam and Myanmar will continue tailored volunteer work, including repairing children's playgrounds and providing IT infrastructure to schools for the blind to improve educational environments.
An official from POSCO Holdings' Social Contribution Office stated, "Global Volunteer Week is a meaningful time when POSCO Group employees around the world come together in the spirit of sharing," adding, "We will continue to listen to the voices of local communities and carry out social contribution activities that provide real help."
