Coinone Receives Commendation from Police Commissioner General for Phishing Crime Prevention
Domestic virtual asset exchange Coinone has been recognized by the National Police Agency for its contributions to preventing phishing crimes.
Coinone announced on June 8 that, at the “Police Agency·Top 5 Domestic Virtual Asset Service Providers Financial business agreement Signing Ceremony” held on June 4 to eradicate and prevent phishing crime damage, an employee from Coinone’s User Protection Department received a commendation from the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency. The award recognizes Coinone’s active participation in crime prevention activities, based on cooperation with the integrated response unit for voice phishing and investigative agencies following the launch of the unit.
After the launch of the integrated voice phishing response unit, Coinone’s User Protection Department protected approximately 68 million won in customer assets from criminal attempts over a 50-day period. The department has been credited for its proactive monitoring, which significantly helped prevent the expansion of losses. For example, in March, the team analyzed reports from the National Police Agency regarding malicious application detection and suspected voice phishing, took temporary measures to protect users at risk, and notified the police, successfully blocking a withdrawal of 38 million won.
