Ukraine has carried out a large-scale drone attack on Saint Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city.
According to reports from the U.S. daily The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and the UK broadcaster BBC on June 6 (local time), Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack targeting Russian military facilities in Saint Petersburg.
Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, stated via his X account (formerly Twitter) that strikes were carried out on the Kronstadt naval base and an armory in the western part of Saint Petersburg, as well as an oil storage facility in the Krasnodar region.
President Zelensky said, "It is time to end the war, but the Russian leadership wants to keep fighting," adding, "Attacks that threaten lives must stop."
Russian authorities announced that infrastructure was damaged and injuries occurred as a result of the attack. No fatalities have been reported.
While the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is taking place, Alexander Beglov, the mayor of Saint Petersburg, issued the first indoor shelter order for citizens since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Russian officials stated that 376 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight. Ukraine, in turn, reported that Russia had launched 272 long-range attack drones, of which 249 were intercepted.
