President Lee Nominates Han Seongsook as New Prime Minister Candidate... Second Female Prime Minister in History
On June 7, President Lee Jaemyung nominated Han Seongsook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, as the new candidate for Prime Minister.
Kang Hoonshik, Chief Presidential Secretary, announced this at a press briefing in the Chunchugwan on the same day.
If Han is appointed as Prime Minister, she will become the first female Prime Minister in 20 years since Han Myeong-sook in 2006, and only the second woman to ever hold the post.

Minister Han is a former CEO of Naver and is recognized as a leading IT industry figure who drove the growth of the domestic portal industry. She began her career as a reporter at the computer magazine Mincom and was a founding member of Empas in 1997. Later, in 2007, she joined NHN, the predecessor of Naver, where she served as Head of Search Quality Center and Head of Service Division, among other roles.
