Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province held a Marine Corps commemoration event in front of the Marine Corps Sangnam Training Center Memorial Monument, located in Seongsan District, to mark the 71st anniversary of Memorial Day.

The ceremony, held on June 6, was attended by more than 400 people, including members of the Changwon Marine Corps Cheonjabong Association, volunteers, and citizens. Attendees paid tribute to the patriotic martyrs and national heroes who dedicated themselves to the country and reflected on the noble spirit of the Marine Corps.
After the commemoration ceremony, members of the Marine Corps Veterans Association, the Gyeongnam Chaperon Volunteer Group, the Gyeongnam Frontier Volunteer Group, the Marine Corps Women's Volunteer Group, and other participants moved to Yongji Lake, where they carried out an underwater cleanup volunteer activity.
Members of the Marine Corps Veterans Association donned wetsuits and oxygen tanks to enter the lake and collected various underwater waste that causes water pollution, while volunteers sorted and disposed of the waste by type, contributing to urban environmental cleanup.
