Han Donghoon Unveils First Bill: "National Election Commission Must Also Undergo Audits"
Proposal to Amend the Board of Audit and Inspection Act Planned
"Election Management Must Be 100% Fair"
Han Donghoon, an independent member of the National Assembly, has announced plans to introduce his first bill: a proposed amendment to the Board of Audit and Inspection Act that would allow the Board of Audit and Inspection to conduct external audits of the National Election Commission.

This issue must be clearly corrected through new legislation."
He continued, "Election management must not be 'as fair as possible,' but '100% fair.' This is an area where an absolute standard of fairness must be applied. However, the ballot shortage incident, caused by the National Election Commission, was shocking in that it failed to meet even the minimum expectation of fairness, let alone '100% fairness.' It is only natural that the public is outraged, and no one should take that anger lightly," he added.
Han further stated, "I intend to propose a revision to Article 24 of the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, adding a provision that would allow the Board of Audit and Inspection to conduct work inspections of the National Election Commission and its subordinate commissions, and to carry out a comprehensive audit accordingly. The amendment will also include an exception clause specifying that the results of such audits of the Election Commission shall not be reported to the president. In this way, the National Election Commission can be kept in check through external audits, while also blocking any potential presidential intervention via the Board of Audit and Inspection's audits," he emphasized.
