Two Women Taking Photos Swept Away by Waves at Gangneung Beach... One Dead
An accident occurred on a beach in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, where two women taking photos were swept away by a sudden high wave, resulting in one death and one injury.

View original imageAccording to the Gangneung Coast Guard Station, a report was received at around 5:09 a.m. on June 6 that a drowning incident had occurred off Yeongjin Beach in Yeongok-myeon, Gangneung. Rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The coastal patrol team from Jumunjin Police Substation, who arrived first at the scene, entered the sea equipped with rescue ropes and other safety equipment, and sequentially rescued the two women who had been swept away by strong waves and were drifting in the water.
At the time of rescue, a woman in her 30s, identified as Ms. A, had already lost consciousness and was in cardiac arrest. Coast Guard rescue personnel immediately performed emergency measures such as CPR at the scene, and she was transported to a nearby hospital by the 119 paramedic team, but was sadly pronounced dead. The other woman in her 20s, who was rescued together, showed signs of acute hypothermia and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Fortunately, her life is not in danger.
