The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on June 5 that it held a "Joint Training for Local Government Officers Responsible for Realizing a Foundational Society" at the Busan Metropolitan City Human Resources Development Center, with the participation of around 200 local government officials in charge of foundational society initiatives.

This event was organized to enhance local officials’ understanding of the foundational society and to identify practical policy tasks that residents can experience in their daily lives.

Starting with this training session in the Yeongnam region, additional workshops will be held on June 8 in the Seoul and Gangwon region, June 10 in the Honam region, and June 12 in the central region. These sessions will examine the meaning, characteristics, and core values of a foundational society, explore the necessity of policy implementation, and discuss the roles of local governments.

The Ministry urged for the activation of resident participation to identify customized tasks that reflect the local circumstances. It also emphasized the need to utilize social solidarity economy organizations and to strengthen connections with artificial intelligence (AI) technology in order to enhance convenience for residents.

The Ministry stated that it plans to collect on-site feedback from local government officials and work with the Foundational Society Committee to ensure effective dissemination of related policies.

Yoon Hojung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, stated, "Realizing a foundational society requires the proactive will and participation of local governments, which are in the closest contact with residents," adding, "We will actively support the realization of a foundational society that residents can genuinely feel in their daily lives."
