Smart City Innovation Showcase Held
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) announced that it held the "Smart City Innovation Showcase" in Seattle, USA, on the 4th (local time) in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.
The Smart City Innovation Showcase is an event that presents solutions to urban challenges using advanced technology. At this event, 15 promising Korean startups directly presented their technologies and business models to local government agencies, corporations, investors, and others, exploring opportunities for global collaboration.

View original imageMore than 200 key figures attended the event, including representatives from the Washington State Department of Commerce and Department of Enterprise Services, the State of Oregon and major cities, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Seattle Police Department, the University of Washington, Boeing, Microsoft (MS), Blue Origin, the Allen Institute, and leading venture capital firms (VCs).
Notably, the City of Seattle re-designated June 4 as "KOSME DAY" (Korea SMEs and Startups Day) to commemorate Korean SMEs. With this event as a momentum, economic and industrial cooperation between KOSME and the City of Seattle is expected to be further strengthened, and exchanges between innovative companies from both countries in future industries are anticipated to expand.
Seo Eunji, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, said, "Overseas missions and local support organizations are working as one team to actively support our companies entering the U.S. market," adding, "We will ensure this event becomes a successful example of the government's K-Initiative collaboration."

Park Janghyuk, Executive Director of Global Growth at KOSME, stated, "This event is significant not only for economic cooperation between Korea and the United States, but also for expanding global partnerships for technological innovation and solving urban challenges," and continued, "Based on cooperative symbols such as KOSME DAY, we will continue to expand support so that Korean SMEs and startups can achieve tangible results in the U.S. market."
