Gyeonggi Dodamteul Local Food Store to Open on June 8... 30% Special Discount Sale
The Gyeonggi Dodamteul Local Food Direct Store will open its doors on June 8 inside the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Gwanggyo, Suwon.
On June 5, Gyeonggi Province announced that a special discount event for residents will be held in conjunction with the opening of the Gyeonggi Dodamteul Local Food Direct Store, starting at 11 a.m. on the same day.
The Gyeonggi Eco-Friendly Farmers Association, a non-profit private organization responsible for operating the store, will host a variety of grand opening events on a first-come, first-served basis, including a cooking demonstration, an eco-friendly onion bagging event where visitors can take as many onions as they want, and free giveaways.
First, the "Chef-Invited Local Food Cooking Demonstration" will feature a chef preparing healthy dishes on the spot using premium agricultural products from Gyeonggi and high-quality eco-friendly certified ingredients. The dishes will be served as finger foods, allowing visitors to enjoy them in bite-sized portions at a tasting event designed to delight attendees.
From now until June 22, Gyeonggi Province will offer a "Members-Only 30% Special Discount Event," providing a 30% discount on fresh vegetables, fruits, processed foods, and other items in the store. Additionally, until the end of this year, 5% of the purchase amount can be accumulated as carbon-neutrality points.
Meanwhile, at the opening ceremony, the Gyeonggi Dodamteul Local Food Direct Store will sign a "Climate Food Practice Business Agreement (MOU)" with Suwon Shared Refrigerator to realize social value through the use of local food.
Under this agreement, a portion of the agricultural and specialty products sold at the Gyeonggi Dodamteul Local Food Direct Store will be donated to the Suwon Shared Refrigerator. The Suwon Shared Refrigerator is a communal fridge where any Suwon citizen can put in food and those in need can take it for free. Safe surplus food—such as vegetables, fruits, side dishes, bread, and beverages—from households or stores can be placed in the fridge, allowing economically disadvantaged neighbors or residents in need to freely take and use them.
