Ministry of Culture Appoints Seven New Members to Game Rating and Administration Committee
"Balancing User Protection and Industry Promotion Anticipated"
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on June 4 that it has appointed seven individuals, including Kang Shinuq, an attorney at Shin & Kim LLC, as members of the Game Rating and Administration Committee. Their term of office will last for three years.

View original imageThe Game Rating and Administration Committee is an organization responsible for reviewing matters related to the classification and post-management of game content, and is composed of a total of nine members.
This round of appointments was made as the terms of the previous members expired. Those newly appointed include Attorney Kang; Kim Kyungtae, Professor of Law at Hallym University; Lee Youngjun, attorney at Kim & Chang; Im Jangwon, Professor at the Graduate School of Journalism at Semyung University; Jeong Moosik, Professor at the Department of Game and Visual Studies at Gachon University; Jeong Yuwon, Executive Director of the Korea Entertainment Industry Association; and Ha Seonghwa, attorney at Hwahyun Law Firm.

The Ministry stated that it took into consideration a comprehensive understanding of the game industry, a balanced perspective on youth protection, and the protection of user rights in making the appointments. Choi Hwiyeong, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, commented, "Games are a representative type of cultural content enjoyed daily by the public and a strategic export industry leading the overseas expansion of K-Culture. I hope that the members, based on their expertise and experience, will help the committee become a trusted institution that balances user protection and industrial promotion."
