Seo-gu Gwangju Residents to Directly Select "Neighborhood Alley Restaurants"
Online Voting Open Until June 23
Signature Restaurants to Be Selected Through Task Force Review
Nurturing Leading Brands for Neighborhood Alley Businesses
Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City has launched an initiative to select "Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" based on residents' opinions. Seo-gu will conduct an online resident vote for the new designation of "Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" until June 23.
The "Neighborhood Alley Restaurant" project aims to discover and nurture hidden local eateries as a signature restaurant brand under the theme of "Small but Excellent in Taste, Hospitality, and Hygiene." Since launching the project in 2023, Seo-gu has selected and operated 84 alley restaurants to date.
This online resident vote targets 22 establishments that passed the first round of screening, including a document review and on-site inspection, among those that applied through the open call in March. Seo-gu plans to select around 10 new "Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" this year by combining the results of the resident vote with scores from a dedicated task force (TF) review.
The final selected establishments will receive tailored support to strengthen the sustainability of small business owners, including: ▲an official designation plaque ▲professional management consulting ▲production of promotional content for social media ▲kitchen hygiene consulting for the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's hygiene rating system.
Residents who wish to participate in the vote can do so through the Naver Form.
