However, concerning the loss in the Seoul mayoral race, he remarked, "It is painful that we could not reclaim Seoul." Addressing the defeats of Oh Joong-ki, candidate for North Gyeongsang Province governor, and Kim Bu-gyeom, candidate for Daegu mayor, he said, "I offer my condolences to the candidates who gave their all but unfortunately lost. I extend even deeper sympathy to those who worked hard for a long time in challenging regions but were not elected."
