Domestic AI Semiconductors Enter Full-Scale Mass Production and Commercialization... Government: "Core Foundation for Independent AI"
Ministry of Science and ICT Hosts "K-AI Semiconductor Growth Forum"
Achieves 46.1 Billion Won in Export Contracts in Overseas Markets
The public and private sectors have jointly entered the full-scale mass production and commercialization phase of domestically produced artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors. The government has identified domestic AI semiconductors as a core foundation for achieving independent AI, and announced that these semiconductors have also met the standards set by demand-side companies in the performance index (K-Perf), which provides objective data.

About 300 people attended the event, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Baek Gung-hoon, members of the National Assembly, related organizations, and representatives from companies involved in AI semiconductors.
The Ministry of Science and ICT assessed that domestic AI semiconductors have entered the commercialization stage and are now producing tangible market results. Domestic AI semiconductors have signed export contracts worth more than 30 million dollars (about 4.61 billion won) in overseas markets such as the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Vietnam, and China, and have also achieved recognition by winning the top innovation award at CES, the world's largest electronics exhibition.
The government also unveiled the results of domestic AI semiconductors currently being operated in the field through the AI semiconductor demonstration project. Technologies developed through government-supported projects and now in operation include: ▲ unmanned autonomous farms using smart livestock AI conversion (AX) poultry management robots (Robotware AI and Mobilint); ▲ marine surveillance surface drones and a wildfire management platform (Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency and FuriosaAI); ▲ disaster safety AI control solutions based on CCTV and drones (Gyeongnam Technopark and Mobilint).
In addition, the government has successfully secured export contracts for a wheelchair mobility platform for people with limited mobility, jointly developed with West Midlands in the United Kingdom, and for a real-time water pollution source detection and autonomous water quality management monitoring service, developed in cooperation with an energy company in the United Arab Emirates.
Collaboration Between Major Companies and Startups... "The Government Will Provide Support"
Major companies are also accelerating their collaborations with domestic AI semiconductor firms. SK Telecom has built an inference infrastructure for its data center by applying the "ATOM-Max" neural processing unit (NPU) from domestic AI semiconductor company Rebellions. According to SK Telecom, this infrastructure can provide AI services at a scale of 50 million calls per day.
SAMSUNG SDS, in partnership with domestic AI semiconductor company Furiosa, has introduced a subscription-based AI semiconductor service called "NPUaaS." This service is powered by FuriosaAI's second-generation NPU "RNGD"-based servers, equipped with the hybrid AI inference model "Exaone 32B" developed by the LG AI Research Institute. SAMSUNG SDS plans to launch a subscription-based service linked to the Samsung Cloud Platform next month.
AI models specialized for processing civil complaints have also been developed. Domestic AI assistant (agent) company PsionicAI and domestic semiconductor startup HyperAccel have unveiled a public complaint analysis solution based on a large language model (LLM) tailored for civil complaints. HyperAccel's self-developed chip "Bertha" was applied to the LLM for civil complaints and used in building the complaint management solution. Hyundai Motor Company and domestic AI semiconductor startup DeepX have prepared a next-generation robotics platform, while MetaM and domestic AI semiconductor startup Mobilint have introduced a low-power AI call center consulting service.
