K-Tech Startups Establish Global Investment Foothold in New York

Jointly Host Demo Day
An event was held to directly connect promising Korean small and medium-sized venture companies in the tech service sector—a specialty industry in New York, USA—with local investment firms, thereby expanding opportunities for investment attraction.
On June 4, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) announced that it had hosted the "New York K-Tech Demo Day" at the PENN1 event hall in Manhattan, New York. This event was jointly organized on June 2 by four organizations, including the New York Global Business Center (GBC) of KOSME, the Eastern U.S. office of Korea Venture Investment Corp., the New York office of the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, and the New York office of the Korea Tourism Organization, all affiliated with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

View original imageThe event was attended by representatives from 12 domestic small and medium-sized venture companies specializing in tech services. Over 200 people, including officials from global venture capital (VC) and investment banking (IB) firms such as Third Prime, One Way Ventures, and JPMorgan Chase, as well as representatives from local government and institutional bodies including the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, participated in the event.
During the morning session for investment firms, there were investment presentations and one-on-one investment consultations from 12 startups in the tech service sector. In the afternoon, presentations were held on business support policies from local government agencies in New York and New Jersey, financial support programs from local banks, strategies for attracting investment from U.S. venture capital, and a panel discussion featuring Korean entrepreneurs.
Ilcheol Park, Commercial Attaché at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York, stated, "Overseas diplomatic missions and local public institutions are working as one team to actively support the entry of our small and medium-sized venture companies into the U.S. market," adding, "We will ensure that this event becomes a successful example of one-team cooperation in realizing the government's global expansion support policies for SMEs and venture companies."
