Production Ramps Up for "Vampire" and "High School Detective"
Second Half to See Aggressive Push in Drama and OTT Content
On June 4, NEW, the content media group, announced that it has finalized its investment and distribution lineup for five films and is beginning production.
The highlight of the lineup is the new projects from three hit directors. Director Jang Jae-hyun, who drew 10 million viewers with "Exhuma," is returning with "Vampire," which is regarded as the most highly anticipated film to expand the Korean occult universe. Director Um Tae-hwa of "Concrete Utopia" will return with "A Livable House," noted for its intense psychological portrayal, while director Kang Hyoung-chul, known for "Scandal Makers" and "Sunny," is set to release "If I'm With You," a film filled with cheerful energy that bridges generations.
The other two films are being developed in collaboration with production companies to enhance their quality. "High School Detective," starring Yoon Kyung-ho and Kim Hye-yoon and produced with Sanai Pictures, targets audiences of all ages, following the success of "Zombie Daughter." "Six Lying College Students" (working title) from Covenant Pictures, which was recently selected as a mid-budget project by the Korean Film Council, will feature a lineup of rising stars including Cho Yi-hyun, Kim Jae-won, and Shin Seung-ho.

Beyond films, NEW is also preparing an aggressive content push for the second half of the year. The company is aiming for revenue growth with projects such as the SBS drama "Good Partner 2," Netflix's "Charge Me Up," and Disney+'s "I Am a Sinner."
