Nam Youngwoo, Former Director General at Ministry of Land, Appointed as New Deputy Director of Saemangeum Development Authority
Nam Youngwoo, former Director General for Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, who has accumulated extensive experience in the field of land and urban development, has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of the Saemangeum Development Authority.
The Saemangeum Development Authority announced on June 1 that newly appointed Deputy Director Nam Youngwoo recently took office and has begun his official duties.

View original imageDeputy Director Nam, a native of Gwangju, graduated from Kumho High School in Gwangju and received his bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from Hanyang University. He also earned an MBA from Willamette University in the United States and a doctorate in Urban Engineering from Chungbuk National University. After joining public service in 1995 by passing the 30th national technical examination, he held various posts at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency, among other major institutions.
He is particularly recognized for his hands-on experience in policy development and the implementation of large-scale development projects in the fields of urban planning and land development, and is regarded as an expert in urban engineering with strong academic credentials.
During his tenure at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Deputy Director Nam was responsible for a wide range of national spatial policy and urban development work, and played a key role in the construction of the Multifunctional Administrative City. He is highly regarded for his experience in promoting policies aimed at balanced regional development and strengthening urban competitiveness.
Both inside and outside the Saemangeum Development Authority, there are expectations that his experience will help accelerate the industrial and urban development of Saemangeum.
Saemangeum has recently attracted investments in secondary batteries and advanced manufacturing, drawing attention as a leading domestic industrial hub. Under the government's plan to foster Saemangeum as a center for future high-tech industries and international cooperation, efforts are underway to expand infrastructure and support corporate investment.

The newly appointed Deputy Director Nam Youngwoo stated, "Saemangeum is emerging as a core growth engine for Korea and a hub for global economic cooperation, propelling new momentum for growth. Based on the policy experience and expertise I have accumulated, I will work closely with the government and relevant organizations to further enhance the capacity to advance the Saemangeum project."
