Ballot Paper Shortage Reported in Songpa-gu... Election Commission Says "Papers Being Delivered"
"Voters Waiting in Line Can Vote Even After Official Closing Time"
On June 3, the main voting day for the 9th nationwide local elections, it was reported that some polling stations in Songpa-gu, Seoul, were experiencing a shortage of ballot papers. In response, the National Election Commission stated, "Ballot papers are currently being delivered to the affected polling stations."
Through a press release that afternoon, the National Election Commission explained, "The voter turnout for the 9th local elections is higher than in the previous election, causing a shortage of prepared ballot papers at some polling stations in Songpa-gu. The Songpa-gu Election Commission is currently delivering additional ballot papers to those stations."
The National Election Commission further added, "Voters who are waiting in line will still be able to cast their ballots even if the official closing time has passed, so we ask that there be no misunderstanding that voting is impossible today due to the shortage of ballot papers."
