The cargo truck first hit the bicycle ridden by BJ A, who was in his 40s, and then, due to the impact, crashed into the SUV as well. At the time, A was confirmed to have been riding on a designated bicycle lane.
As a result of the accident, A suffered traumatic cardiac arrest while riding his bicycle. Although the 119 emergency rescue team performed CPR and other emergency measures on site and transported him to the hospital, he ultimately passed away.
B, the driver of the SUV who was accompanying A from behind to ensure safety, also sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
The deceased, A, was a popular internet broadcaster known for leveraging his background as a former gang member. At the time of the accident, he was participating in a content challenge to ride a bicycle from Busan to Seoul in three days.
Even at the moment of the accident, a live broadcast was ongoing via smartphone, and it is reported that approximately 150 viewers witnessed the entire incident, causing shock.
