Local Election D-1, Gyeongnam Superintendent Candidate Kwon Sungi: "Let's Change Education in Gyeongnam"
On the evening of June 2, just one day before the 9th nationwide local elections, Kwon Sungi, candidate for Gyeongnam Superintendent of Education, wrapped up his campaign efforts and made a final push to win over voters.
That day, Kwon delivered his final campaign speech at Sangnam Fountain Square in Sangnam-dong, Seongsan-gu, Changwon, declaring, "I will change education in Gyeongnam."

He pointed out that "Gyeongnam achieved the top position among non-capital regions in terms of economic power and population last year, and the population has shifted to a net inflow. However, public education in Gyeongnam has completely collapsed," highlighting issues such as declining academic performance, student character problems, weakened teacher authority, and deteriorating fiscal soundness.

He went on to say, "Only if education in Gyeongnam changes will there be a future for both the region and our children, and only then can Gyeongnam achieve true development." He pledged, "I will transform education in Gyeongnam and establish world-class artificial intelligence (AI) education, as well as properly combine science and technology with humanities-based imagination in fields such as nuclear power and defense, smart manufacturing, and physical AI."
