The bill includes the re-establishment of the Committee for the Investigation of Pro-Japanese and Anti-National Property and aims to push forward with the confiscation of assets related to pro-Japanese activities.
The new law will take effect six months after its promulgation. The Office of the President plans to hold an interdepartmental meeting on this day to discuss concrete measures for cooperation to ensure the successful launch and smooth operation of the committee.
In particular, the Ministry of Justice, which is the overseeing body, is expected to establish a “Preparatory Team for the Committee for the Investigation of Pro-Japanese Property” (tentative name) through this meeting. The preparatory team will be responsible for designing the committee’s organization, developing operational plans, and carrying out preliminary work necessary for launching the investigation into pro-Japanese assets, thus laying the groundwork for the committee’s activities.
